Tension as Abuja-based Chinese Supermarket Reportedly Denies Entry to Nigerians

Following rumours that it refused to let Nigerian clients in, stating the store was only for Chinese nationals, an Abuja-based Chinese shop has come under fire.

An eyewitness claims that Tosin Olugbenga claimed in a since-deleted video posted to his X account that he went to the grocery after seeing it advertised online. But when he arrived at the door, he was told by security guards that the place was only open to Chinese patrons, and they refused to let him in.

He said, “Wonders shall never end. There is this Chinese supermarket I saw online, they have Chinese stuff inside like food, ramen, and other things.

“ I went there to check it out and on going there, at the gate, the security people told me the supermarket is strictly for Chinese people, if you are Nigerian, you can’t go inside or buy anything.

“This supermarket is in Abuja, in Nigeria, and a Nigerian cannot enter. This is a joke, that means a Chinese guy has more rights than you here in Nigeria because he can enter anywhere he wants, and go everywhere, but as a Nigerian, there are places you can’t enter in Nigeria.

“Go and try it in China and see, open a place and say that China citizens cannot enter and see what they will do to you.”
