Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road: Niger Delta Youths Sends Warning To Peter Obi

Niger Delta youths have warned Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, and other opponents to avoid the President Bola Tinubu administration’s ongoing Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.

The warning was given by Izon Ebi, the Coordinator of 21st Century Youths of Niger Delta and Agitators with Conscience, in a statement that was uploaded on Friday on Tinubu’s official X handle by Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s special adviser.

The group issued a warning to Obi and other opponents, urging them to stop impeding the Federal Government’s efforts to carry out what they called the Niger Delta’s first significant landmark project.

Although the group applauded Tinubu for sanctioning the route that will cross the Niger Delta’s beaches, it claimed the roadway is both a political and economic masterstroke by the present administration.

The consortium emphasised that upon project completion, the Niger Delta region would experience a surge in economic activity and a rebirth of tourism.

The statement said: “We are forced to wonder if it’s because the project is not sited in their region or they can no more hide their hate and disdain for the Niger Delta people.

“We, the people of the Niger Delta, support the President’s noble stride, and, on this note, send clear warnings to haters of the Niger Delta to steer clear”.

But Obi was accused by Works Minister Dave Umahi of instigating Igbos against Tinubu’s administration.

When the roadway is finished, it would cost N2.8 trillion, according to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
