Tension As New Exco Members Issue Fresh Suspension To Ganduje

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is currently experiencing a crisis that has taken a new turn. The National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, has been suspended once more by a group referred to as the “authentic members” of Ganduje ward in Tofa Local Government Area, Kano State.

Recall that Haladu Gwanjo, the leader of a different group of party officials in Ganduje’s ward, suspended him last week.

Gwanjo claimed that nine executive party members in Ganduje ward made the decision to suspend the national chairman, citing allegations of corruption among other violations.

A different faction referred to as the “authentic members” of Ganduje ward in Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State has suspended the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), adding to the recent turmoil inside the party.

However, Ahmad Ganduje’s group also surfaced to endorse the national chairman, stating that the ward officials approved of his style of leadership.

However, in a further twist, the group headed by the ward secretary, Jaafar Adams, revealed to reporters on Sunday that eleven of the twenty-seven executive members of the ward are the legitimate ward excos who were duly elected on July 31, 2021. As a result, Abdullahi Ganduje is being suspended once more.

“We are the authentic executives of Ganduje ward and have passed a vote of no confidence and imposed new suspension on Dr Umar Ganduje.”

Kano Court Reverses Ganduje’s Suspension, Orders Status Quo

He went further to outline reasons why the suspension is coming at this time, noting that the embattled APC national chairman has not been paying his statutory party dues.

“We have suspended Dr Ganduje’s membership for creating internal conflict among party members at ward level, and anti-party activities during the 2023 general elections.”

Adamu Jaafar, the nephew of the former governor of Kano State, stressed that the national chairman of the party and other disreputable members of the party were behind the two groups posing as executives.
