A deadly attack in Ogun State by terrorists claimed the life of Babcock University’s Department of Law Professor Yinka Olomojobi.
Two civilians were also kidnapped by the terrorists during the event, which took place at the Ajadeh Event Centre on Sagamu Road in the Iperu district.
Witnesses stated that eight black-clad, armed individuals entered the event centre and started shooting randomly.

It is said that Professor Olomojobi resisted the terrorists’ attempts to take him away, leading to his fatal shooting wound in the chest.
Along with the professor’s passing, two other people—among them, Dare, the manager of a neighbouring auto stand—were abducted and brought to an unidentified place.
The Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, verified the event and said that one suspect had been taken into custody in relation to the assault. Just two weeks before the incident, the detained person—Plateau State native Awada Ishaya—was working as a security guard at the event centre.
She said: “A report from the Iperu Division indicates that a kidnapping and murder incident occurred on the 19th of April, 2024, at about 9:20 pm.

“A suspicious coincidence led the police to arrest one Awada Ishaya of Plateau State who was employed two weeks ago when the event centre was launched as a security man for further interrogation.
“The lecturer was taken to Babcock University Teaching Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
“Efforts are underway to apprehend the culprits and rescue the kidnapped victims. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops,” she promised.
