FG assures of Tinubu’s commitment to end banditry

The Federal Government of Nigeria has assured of the commitment of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration to end banditry in the country.

The Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, said President Tinubu is committed to ending terrorism, kidnapping, banditry, and other criminal activities in the country.

Badaru stated this on Friday in Sokoto while on an official working visit to the 8th Division headquarters in Sokoto.

He explained that Mr. President has mandated them to end insurgency, terrorism, and banditry as soon as possible.

He further said that this administration is fully committed to defeating terrorism, kidnapping, banditry, and other criminal activities, especially in the northern part of the country.

He maintained that the military has recorded successes recently, which led to the killing of some terrorist leaders.

“Recently, our military has recorded successes by neutralising some terrorist leaders, and I can assure you that we are trailing the remaining ones, and very soon we will get them, he added.

The Minister, while addressing the troops at the parade ground of the 26th Battalion, Giginya Barracks, encouraged them to remain focused, saying very soon it would be over.

He said their sacrifices would never go unnoticed, stressing that Mr. President is aware of their plights and is doing everything to address them.

He stated that their welfare would be at risk because Mr. President is doing everything to improve their welfare.

“Let us keep the hope alive and be optimistic; by the grace of God, we shall overcome these challenges,” he said.

Badaru disclosed that the security team assembled by Mr President is formidable, saying they are working in synergy to ensure that insecurity becomes the thing of the past.

The minister, while in the government house, told Governor Ahmed Aliyu that he was the state representative to interact with the governor and seek his advice.

He assured the governor of the federal government of his commitment to end terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping in the state.

Responding, Governor Ahmed Aliyu, represented by his deputy, Muhammad Idris Gobir, said the state government will spend its last Kobo to ensure Sokoto is secure.

He stated that the state government would partner with the federal government in the fight against terrorists while assuring that security is the first agenda item in the Governor Ahmed Aliyu-led government.
