American rapper and music label boss, Gucci Mane has revealed why a lot of artistes signed to his 1017 Records are currently in prison for various offences.
The ‘I Get The Bag’ hitmaker explained that a lot of his signees are in jail because they have issues that people rarely see.
Gucci Mane stated this when he appeared on his wife’s podcast, ‘All Things Keyshia Ka’Oir,’ Mane, where he said he can help them because he is also an ex-convict.
The Hip Hop artiste noted that he sees himself in the musicians and he believes that if he does not step in, no one else will help them.
The host had said; “The street wants to know why all your 1017 artistes keep going to jail.”
Responding, Mane said: “Well, that was how I was going back and forth in jail. I try to help those artistes that I see a lot of myself in [them]. I feel like if I’m not helping them, who else is going to help them? Nobody sees that part of the story.
“They definitely have a story to tell. They come from the trenches. I want to help. I feel like I can relate to them. I know what they got going on.”
Three artistes signed to 1017 namely; Pooh Shiesty, Foogiano, and Young Thug, are currently serving different jail terms.
