AYRION to FG, states: Make youth devt priority to prevent future protests
President of a nongovernmental organisation, All Youths Reoriented Initiative of Nigeria (AYRION), Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, tasked the federal and state governments to make youth development a priority to guide against future protests.
Ambassador Ajadi who made the call in a statement to commemorate this year’s “International Youth Day” said this can be done through provision of jobs and enabling environment.
The AYRION president stated further that Nigerian youth should on their part shun any form of social vices such as drug addiction, internet frauds, clandestine activities and other quick money solutions that have occupied the space in the country.
“I am dedicated to the youth development because the youth are the leaders of tomorrow. So if we want the future of the country to be bright, we need to take care of the youth,” he said.
He added, “Nothing will stop me from promoting the development of the youth. I am also dedicated to the promotion of peace in the country because, without peace, the nation cannot progress.”
The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) chieftain said youth should realise that there is joy and peace in hard work, which he said, will result in long- lasting richness without any inhibition.
Advising the governments that creation of enabling environment and job opportunities for the youth will keep them busy he said if this has been done earlier, the recent protests against the government would have been a total failure.
Ambassador Ajadi pointed out that if government had been able to provide job opportunities for at least 70 percent of the Nigerian youth, they would not be able to be on streets for the protests, adding, ” to avoid a recurrence of protests in future, the governments at various levels should embark on creation of jobs for the youth.
Affirming that youth development, support for women, quality leadership and peace in the country remain his priority in life as he strives always for a better Nigeria, Ambassador Ajadi said he believes that there is a need to guide the youth against bad behaviour by putting them on a good pedestal and ensuring that they are not lured into criminality.
