2027: Ex-PSC Chairman Simon Okeke Urges Atiku to Step Aside for Peter Obi

Simon Okeke, former chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), has called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race and support Peter Obi as the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a statement on Tuesday, Okeke appealed to Atiku to throw his weight behind Obi, citing the political convention of power rotation to the South.

He argued that 2027 presents Atiku with an opportunity to reciprocate the support he has historically received from the South East by stepping aside for a Southern candidate to complete what he described as the balance of term.

Okeke acknowledged that Obi, like every human being, is not perfect and may have some shortcomings, but maintained that the former Anambra governor remains the right choice for the ADC ticket.

The appeal adds to the growing conversations and realignments within the opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
