Atlético Madrid Coach Hails Ademola Lookman As Club’s Best Signing In Seven Years

Atlético Madrid assistant coach Luis Tevenet has labelled Ademola Lookman the club’s most impactful signing in recent memory after the winger’s electric start in Spain.

Ademola Lookman arrived from Atalanta during the winter transfer window and wasted no time settling into life under manager Diego Simeone. His pace, direct running and end product have quickly made him a central figure in Atlético’s attack.

The Nigeria international has delivered seven goals and four assists in just 18 appearances across all competitions, a return that has strengthened the club’s push in domestic and European games.

Tevenet believes the forward has transformed the team’s attacking threat, particularly in wide areas where Atlético had previously lacked unpredictability.

“With the arrival of Lookman he has the speed that the team demanded,” Tevenet told AS.

“For me he (Lookman) has been one of the club’s most important signings in the last six, seven years: now Atleti is much more ambiguous on both sides.”

The coaching staff view Lookman’s versatility as a major asset. Comfortable operating on either flank, he has given Simeone fresh tactical options and helped stretch opposition defences. His ability to drive at defenders and create space for teammates has added a new dimension to Atlético’s forward play.

Supporters have also embraced the winger’s high-energy style, with his early contributions sparking optimism about the club’s long-term recruitment strategy.
