Osun guber: APC vows to defeat Gov Adeleke on election day

The Director General of the All Progressives Congress campaign organisation, Oluwole Oke, has said the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, will defeat the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, before 10:00pm on election day.

Oke made the assertion on Wednesday during the inauguration of more than 800 members of the party’s campaign council for the 2026 governorship election in Osun State.

He criticised the management of state resources under the current administration, stating that Oyebamiji was prepared to “rescue Osun from the drift of collapse being plunged into by the current administration.”

According to him, the campaign council was resolute in its objective to unseat Adeleke, declaring that “removing Adeleke is non-negotiable, as his days in office are numbered.”

The party had earlier announced members of the campaign council, with Oke appointed as Director General, alongside other coordinators across the senatorial districts.

Speaking at the inauguration, Oke said the council had commenced mobilisation and grassroots campaigns following its announcement.

He alleged that the present administration had failed across multiple sectors, including education, health, agriculture, and mining, adding that public institutions were no longer functioning as expected.

“The incumbent is gone. His days in office are numbered. The truth remains that the government has failed the people of Osun State on all fronts,” Oke said.

He added, “It is unfortunate that their sing-song is paying salary, forgetting that workers deserve pay. It is not an achievement that someone is paying salary.”

Oke stated that the party was committed to addressing socio-economic challenges, including poverty, unemployment, and governance, promising programmes aimed at improving welfare and restoring what he described as the state’s “lost glory.”

“I have always said this: we are experts in removing a sitting governor. We will remove Adeleke before 10:00pm on 15th August 2026. Bola Oyebamiji will win and be declared the validly elected governor of Osun,” he said.

The campaign council comprises several committees, including Peace and Resolution, Contact and Mobilisation, Women Mobilisation, Media and Publicity, Youth and Civil Society, Social Engagement, Research and Strategy, Legal, Medical, Diaspora, Multiface Interface, Entertainment, and Non-indigene committees, each led by designated chairpersons and secretaries.
