The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has criticised supporters of the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, accusing them of viewing national issues from a negative perspective.
TheTimes Nigeria reports that Bwala made the remarks in a post on his đť•Ź handle on Thursday while reacting to a cartoon showing him holding a glass of water and explaining the importance of context during a recent interview with Mehdi Hasan.
The presidential aide said context was important in discussions about politics and governance, adding that people often interpreted issues differently.
He wrote, “I love this picture. Whoever did it, tried. Intellectuals know context matters when discussing issues of politics and governance. It is either you are looking at life as half full or half empty.”
Bwala said progressives understand that challenges are part of the process of development.
“Progressives believe context matters, because you will be confronted with problems; no progress without process,” he said.
Taking a swipe at Obi’s supporters, popularly called Obidients, Bwala described their outlook as negative.
He said, “It is only Peter Obi and his Trojans that see everything as half empty; that is why they are disillusioned, disgruntled and confused.”
According to him, a positive outlook reflects hope, while a negative one reflects pessimism.
“May your journey in life be half full rather than half empty; because half full depicts hope, while half empty depicts Obidients,” he added.
