Popular Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke, has shared his thoughts on the problems facing the Nigerian film industry.
TheTimes Nigeria reports that the thespian said many of the challenges Nollywood is dealing with come from within, as some individuals work against the progress of others.
According to him, if there is one change he would make in the industry, it would be to remove those who create problems from inside.
The actor made this known during a chat with the BBC, where he spoke about his experiences and views on Nollywood. He explained that some people in the industry act in ways that slow down growth, adding that such behaviour needs to be addressed.
“Is there is one thing I would love to change about Nollywood, it would be to purge saboteurs from the industry. The industry is full of saboteurs. They can’t help themselves. They need therapy,” he said.
Speaking about his personal life, Jim Iyke also revealed a moment that meant a lot to him in his career. He said he once felt deeply moved after his son praised his acting and described him in a very positive way. The experience touched him so much that he became emotional and stepped away to compose himself.
