Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) forward Ousmane Dembele says the French champions will take the fight to Bayern Munich in Germany after a breathless first leg in the UEFA Champions League semi-final.
TheTimes Nigeria reports that Dembele scored twice on Tuesday night as Luis Enrique’s men defeated Bayern 5-4 in Paris, setting up a decisive return at the Allianz Arena next week.
Speaking to Canal+ after the match, the France international made it clear the Ligue 1 giants will not sit back to protect their slender advantage.
“We are happy with the result. It was an incredible match,” Dembele said.
“We will go to Munich to try to win and qualify. We aren’t going to change our philosophy, we’re going to attack.”
Bayern, however, are far from conceding the tie. England captain Harry Kane insists the Bundesliga side will lean into a high-intensity approach when the teams meet again.
Speaking to Amazon Prime Video, the striker backed Bayern to overturn the deficit with home support behind them.
“You saw two high-level teams in attacking play and transition. Overall, we look at their goals, the penalty was harsh but we could have killed the game earlier on,” he said.
“We fought and we clawed and we’re back in the tie. I thought there was amazing defending even though there were nine goals. Sometimes the forwards will come out on top but the back line was outstanding today.
“You will always feel there are areas to improve on. We go to the Allianz with nothing to lose, we’re at our best when we’re intense and physical.
“It’ll be who takes their moments next week, with the crowd behind us, we hope that can push us over the line.”
