President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance were safely evacuated after a gunman opened fire during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner held at the Washington Hilton on Saturday night.

The incident reportedly began when a man armed with a shotgun, handgun, and knives fired at a federal official, triggering panic inside the venue as security operatives rushed to protect top government officials and guests.
Secret Service agents immediately moved to secure the hall, forming a protective shield around the President and escorting him out alongside other senior officials, including cabinet members and the First Lady.
No casualties were reported, although the targeted official was said to have been protected by a bulletproof vest.
Authorities identified the suspect as Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old from Torrance, California. Law enforcement officials say he acted alone, and investigations are ongoing to determine his motive.
U.S. officials confirmed that Allen will be charged in court on Monday as security agencies continue to review how he accessed the high-profile event.
President Trump later assured the public that all senior officials were safe, stating that emergency response teams acted swiftly to contain the situation.
