United States President Donald Trump has said Iran sent a revised peace proposal shortly after Washington abruptly cancelled a planned diplomatic mission to Pakistan aimed at opening talks on the ongoing conflict.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Trump said the development came just minutes after he called off the trip involving top US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who were expected to hold discussions with Iranian officials through Pakistani mediation.

“Iran sent over a fresh peace offer that was much better than what they would have gone into the meeting working with,” Trump stated.

He explained that the new proposal arrived “about ten minutes” after the cancellation decision, suggesting a sudden shift in Tehran’s position.
When asked what had changed between Friday and Saturday, Trump replied: “Nothing.”
“It’s just that they gave us a paper that should have been better. And interestingly, immediately, when I canceled it, within ten minutes, we got a new paper that was much better,” he added.
The US President also reiterated Washington’s firm stance on Iran’s nuclear programme, stressing that any agreement must include a guarantee that Tehran will not acquire nuclear weapons.
“We communicated again our red line that the regime cannot have any nuclear weapons,” he said.
The latest comments come amid fragile diplomatic efforts and heightened tensions between both countries, with negotiations repeatedly disrupted by disagreements over Iran’s nuclear ambitions and regional security concerns.
