Primate Ayodele says opposition coalition can challenge Tinubu if fully united
Cleric warns internal betrayal could sabotage 2027 alliance plans
Predicts court battles and government pressure on opposition bloc
Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has warned that the emerging opposition alliance against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu could pose a serious political challenge, but may ultimately fail due to internal disunity and betrayal.
In a statement issued through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, the cleric said the move by opposition parties to field a single presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 elections is strategically strong, but unlikely to remain intact.

He explained that while the alliance has the potential to unsettle the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), its success depends entirely on unity and sincerity among its members.

“If they are united till the end, they can shake Tinubu. The president will feel the heat if they are totally united; that’s the only thing that can give the project success,” he said.
Ayodele, however, cautioned that not all stakeholders within the coalition are committed to the same goal, warning that internal sabotage could weaken the movement before the election.
“APC will find it tough if they are united, but not everyone there is ready for success,” he added.
He further alleged that the ruling party may attempt to frustrate influential figures within the opposition alliance in order to weaken its structure ahead of 2027.
According to him, “the government will frustrate those who have strength among them to weaken them.”
The cleric also predicted that the coalition could face legal and political hurdles in the build-up to the election.
“The alliance is for a period, and they must be careful of court cases around them because it will be intense now,” he said.
While describing the opposition unity move as a positive development, Ayodele insisted that its long-term survival is doubtful unless trust and discipline are maintained among its leaders.
