Increased allowances and benefits to raise workers’ take-home pay
New retirement exit scheme introduced to improve welfare
The Federal Government has approved a wide-ranging pay rise and welfare package for civil servants, including increased allowances and a new retirement exit scheme.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, disclosed the decision in Abuja while briefing journalists on outcomes of the Federal Executive Council meeting.

She said the reforms cover officers under the Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure and the Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure, with adjustments designed to improve earnings across all levels.
“There has been a comprehensive review and increase in the peculiar allowance for officers on the consolidated public service salary structure and the consolidated research and allied institutions salary structure,” she said.
According to her, the revised framework is structured to ensure that both junior and senior officers benefit from improved remuneration.
“The revised allowance has been structured to reflect across all grade levels, resulting in a meaningful increase in take-home pay across different cadres,” Walson-Jack added.
She noted that the move forms part of broader efforts by the government to enhance worker welfare, boost morale and retain skilled personnel within the public service.

“So whether you are a junior officer or a senior professional, this improvement is designed specifically for you,” she said.
In addition to the salary adjustments, the government also approved an upward review of key benefits, including duty tour allowance, estacode and book allowance, describing the package as a comprehensive overhaul of existing welfare provisions.
The introduction of a new retirement exit scheme is also expected to support civil servants transitioning out of active service, as part of efforts to strengthen the overall structure of the public sector workforce.
